Arrests made at Top Model auditions

Six people have been injured and three arrested after chaos broke out at the New York auditions for America’s Next Top Model.

Thousands of hopefuls were queueing up for the auditions for the show, hosted by former supermodel Tyra Banks, at a Manhattan hotel when the trouble began.

Police cancelled the audition but were unable to say what had caused the unrest.

Reports suggest that the trouble broke out after a smoking car pulled up alongside the crowd, and a man leapt out and began trying to steal people’s handbags.

Clothes and shoes were apparently abandoned in the street as women in the queue – some of whom had camped out all night for the auditions – tried to escape.

Two women and a man were arrested on charges of inciting to riot and disorderly conduct. Of the six people injured in the incident, two required hospital treatment.

The show, now in its 13th series, will offer one lucky hopeful a modelling contract. Auditions are also due to be held in Dallas, Chicago and Los Angeles.
