EastEnders bosses surprise the Sharon Mitchell star with a lovely bouquet of flowers
EastEnders legend Letitia Dean has just clocked up an amazing 2,000 episodes, but one of her co-stars has appeared in almost double the amount – yep, Adam Woodyatt, aka Ian Beale.
While Letitia has appeared on and off as Sharon Mitchell since 1985, Adam has been in the show consistently since the very first episode!
According to IMDB, Adam has now been in an incredible 3,874 episodes, while Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell, has managed 3,048 episodes and June Brown (Dot Cotton), has reached 2,210 episodes.
Back to Letitia and she was thrilled when, after filming her 2000th episode and appropriately a scene with Steve McFadden, the show’s bosses gave her an enormous bunch of flowers.
EastEnders executive producer Jon Sen told a happy and stunned looking Letitia: “I would like to say congratulations to a wonderful actress, a fantastic company member, and a national icon who just completed her 2,000th episode.”
In the special video posted on the official EastEnders Twitter page, Letitia, 51, said “thank you” for the gift before kissing Steve McFadden on the cheek and saying to her co-star: “I couldn’t have done it without you, Steve.” He quipped in response: “She’s right. You’re right.”
The show’s senior executive producer, Kate Oates, described reaching the 2,000th episode landmark as “an amazing achievement by anyone’s standards”.
But, it’s going to take a while before she can catch up with Adam Woodyatt!
EastEnders continues on BBC1.
