Axed Apprentice Jane: ‘I knew I was going’

Axed Apprentice candidate Jane McEvoy said she expected to be the one fired by Lord Sugar after the failure of this week’s task.

Jane ended up in the boardroom alongside Gabrielle Omar and Laura Hogg after Team Sterling lost the task of sourcing second hand goods to sell at a profit.

Speaking exclusively to, Jane admitted that after being on the losing team three times in four weeks, she knew her time was up.

“I knew I was going,” she said. “It didn’t matter what I said, I thought it was inevitable so I’d just sit back and relax. I’m normally a fighter in the boardroom and it was strange to be in that position.

Reflecting on the task, Jane said: “I know nothing about vintage furniture so I spent most of my time outside the shop getting people in, and I thought I did a good job in that.

But she added: “I don’t think any of us had a clue where we were at and made a complete mess of it.”

Jane said she has no regrets about appearing on the show. “No one wants to be fired early and of course I wanted to win. It takes a lot of guts to go on the Apprentice and, although I might have looked like a eejit sometimes, it was a great experience.”

She added: “If anything it’s given me more determination to go out there and show that I can make a success of myself.”

The Apprentice continues Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC1.
