John Barrowman has claimed John Sergeant is making a mockery of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Torchwood star – a trained dancer and a fan of the show – said while it was up to the public, the point of the reality show was about dancing, not comedy.

Barrowman said: “When you do programmes like that you have to let the public choose who they want to choose.

“But it’s not fair if the public put John Sergeant through because the better dancers will then all be voted off, and it’s making a mockery of what the show is all about – because he’s not improving.”

He went on: “Bless the man, he’s wonderful to watch, it’s good comedy, but if he doesn’t get in the bottom two and two good dancers do, you’re going to lose the good dancers and it’s just a joke if he’s there.”

Barrowman, who will be appearing on Strictly next Saturday, added: “I don’t dance as much as I used to but every Saturday night I watch Strictly and I think I’d like to see Lisa Snowdon win.”

The singer and actor is presenting Children In Need in Wales and will be singing his new single, What About Us, live.
