Much-loved comedy character Mrs Brown will preside over a new BBC1 Saturday night entertainment show featuring celebrity guests and studio interaction
The BBC has announced a new Saturday night entertainment show, All Round to Mrs Brown’s – a mix of celebrity guests, surprise audience interaction and ‘outrageous stunts’.
The show will be filmed in front of a live studio audience – ‘what could possibly go wrong?!’ said the BBC in a statement.
Mrs Brown’s Boys creator, writer and star Brendan O’Carroll said: “The entire cast is excited by this. I think Agnes may be worried that she’ll need a bigger kettle to make tea for everyone that’s coming round!”
Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content, said: “Bringing one of our biggest comedy stars Mrs Brown to Saturday nights in 2017 with a new entertainment show is going to be full of fun and mischief and totally unpredictable, I can’t wait!”
Multi-award wining sitcom Mrs Brown’s Boys peaked last year when a live episode was watched by more than 11 million viewers.
All Round to Mrs Brown’s will be produced by Hungry Bear Media in conjunction with Brendan O’Carroll’s production company BocPix.
Brendan said: “I have been waiting some time to work with Dan Baldwin and Hungry Bear. It is so exciting now to team up for this. Similarly, one of the things that everyone at BocPix enjoys about working with the BBC is that we are always given the encouragement to explore new ideas – like we did with the live episode of Mrs. Browns Boys in July.”
The series will screen later this year.
