TV Times top picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Saturday 27th January

All Together Now, 7.15pm, BBC1

Rob Beckett and former Spice Girl Geri Horner are shaking up Saturday nights with this brand new musical talent show with a twist. All Together Now sees hopefuls sing their hearts out for a panel of music experts known as The 100. The singers have to get as many of The 100 as they can to stand up and sing along with them to claim a spot in the top three – but they can lose their place if another singer scores higher (think The X Factor’s six-chair challenge but a lot less brutal!). There’s bags of talent, no sob stories and some real characters among The 100. Also, Rob’s hilarious and there’s a Spice Girl in the mix. What’s not to love? Rating: *****

Hard Sun, 9.30pm, BBC1

Hard Sun

What with the impending end of the world and a serial killer on the loose, DCI Charlie Hicks could be forgiven for not playing things by the book. But even he wouldn’t have imagined he’d be on the verge of waterboarding a priest, as he is tonight. Father Dennis still won’t name the killer, though – so Hicks decides to use him as bait… Meanwhile, secret agent Grace keeps up her threats. Rating: ****

Darcey Bussell’s New Dance, 10.00pm, BBC2

Darcey Bussell introduces two dance companies creating routines that are totally out of the ordinary: a hip-hop company who’ve worked with Danny Boyle, and a Canadian ice-skating group reinventing the sport of ice dancing. The results will give you goose bumps. Rating: ****
