Creator promises 'nail-biting' sixth and final episode of the monster hit
The BBC has revealed that the final episode of Bodyguard, starring Keeley Hawes and Richard Madden, will be extended by 15 minutes.
Every other episode of the series has been an hour, but the climax, which will be shown on Sunday 23rd September at 9pm, will now be 75 minutes long – we wonder what will happen in those extra 15 minutes?!
Creator Jed Mercurio, who’s also behind Line of Duty, said: “We’re grateful to the BBC for agreeing to an extended finale of Bodyguard.
“This way BBC viewers will experience the full measure of a nail-biting climax to the series.”
It’s certainly an unusual move by the Beeb to extend a final episode of a series, however, it’s not that surprising given that 10.4 million viewers watched the opening episode – making it the biggest drama on UK telly in over a decade.
We’ve already seen episode four, which is on this Sunday – check out our preview. We can tell you that Sunday’s episode will feature some shocking twists in the aftermath of the explosion.
So, is bodyguard David (Richard Madden) trying to protect or kill Home Secretary Julia (Keeley Hawes)? We can’t wait to find out!
Bodyguard continues with episode four this Sunday.
