Keeley Hawes, Richard Madden, Gina McKee and Sophie Rundle star in the Bodyguard, which promises to be one of the most talked about shows of the year
Bodyguard, starring Keeley Hawes, could be one of the hits of 2018. The thriller is penned by Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio and is expected to give the same action packed ride. Here’s all the key characters in Bodyguard…
Julia Montague MP (Keeley Hawes)
The Home Secretary is a workaholic, pushed into the spotlight when London suffers a terrorist attack. Keeley says: “She has this public façade but appears to have no life outside work, so we think, ‘Where’s the woman?’. But everyone has a story, and as the series unfolds we start to see chinks in her armour.”
Sgt David Budd (Richard Madden)
Assigned to the Home Secretary, will the personal protection officer be able to do his duty when he realises that he despises everything she stands for? “He’s a war veteran who’s still haunted by his horrific experiences in Afghanistan,” says Richard.
Commander Anne Sampson (Gina McKee)
Head of the Met Police counter-terrorism unit, Commander Sampson reports directly to the Home Secretary.
Mike Travis (Vincent Franklin)
One of Julia’s most senior advisors, it’s Mike’s job to ensure the Home Secretary has all the information she needs.
Vicky Budd (Sophie Rundle)
The mother of David’s two children, Vicky has urged the personal protection officer to seek help for his issues – but will he listen?
Andy Apsted (Tom Brooke)
Andy served with David in the Middle East and understands exactly why he is so haunted by his traumatic experiences there.
Bodyguard begins on Sunday 26th August at 9pm. The second episode of Bodyguard is being shown the following night at 9pm. The series is six parts.
