Home and Away characters will have to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of a bomb which will shatter the residents of Summer Bay when the series resumes in the New Year.

Twisted teacher Jade Montgomery, played by Tasma Walton, planted a bomb in the laptop bag of Bianca Scott (Lisa Gormley) as her long-running vendetta against her colleague hits new heights.

The device goes off in the hospital, leaving Bianca, Heath Braxton (Dan Ewing), Irene Roberts (Lynne McGranger), Doctor Nate Cooper (Kyle Pryor) and a pregnant Ricky Sharpe (Bonnie Sveen) among the characters in danger in the cliff-hanger finale, which was shown on Australian screens last night (November 27).

A trailer for the upcoming episodes, which will screen in the UK in 2014, teases: “Who hasn’t survived the bomb?”

It then reveals, “One dead. Who won’t return?”

Lisa explained: “Bianca’s been working with a pretty crazy teacher, who has a grudge for Bianca and the position she holds, so she wants to take her out. She just happens to take the hospital with her.”

She said shooting the explosion scenes were ‘a learning experience’, adding: “I got to fly, so that was pretty exciting.”

Former stuntman Kyle said he was thrilled by the stunts, while his co-star Dan admitted he wanted to make the most of going up against him.

“Kyle and I worked together before on Power Rangers RPM. He played the baddies, so I got to hit him around. He didn’t get to hit me back and hopefully he doesn’t get his revenge,” he joked.

Home and Away continues on Channel 5 until December 13 when the show goes on a one-month break, and the explosive episode will be shown on Channel 5 in February.
