Alex Scott strong favourite to win
Match of the Day pundit Alex Scott has been revealed as the hot favourite to win this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Bookies have released odds for this year’s competition and Ladbrokes has installed the former footballer as the 5-1 favourite to claim the famous glitterball trophy.
Alex isn’t the most famous name among this year’s line-up, but punters clearly reckon she has what it takes to win the BBC1 hit.
Ex Coronation Street favourite Catherine Tyldesley is second favourite, currently a 7-1 shot, while EastEnders star Emma Barton, aka Honey Mitchell, is also given a reasonable chance of doing well by the bookies and is a 12-1 chance.
Double gold medallist James Cracknell is given a squeak of going far in the show and is 16-1.
However, punters seem to have listened to Anneka Rice when she said she hasn’t danced since she was 7.
When she was announced for the show, Anneka said: “I haven’t danced since I was 7 and Miss Beer sent me home from my ballet class because I was hopelessly uncoordinated.”
After hearing that, punters are unlikely to be backing Anneka and bookies make her a 20-1 outsider to go all the way.
Meanwhile, BBC Breakfast sports presenter Mike Bushell has been given next to no chance of making it far in the competition. One bookie is even offering the huge odds of 50-1 on Mike winning this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
So, could Mike be the first of this year’s line-up to be departing the show?
And will Alex Scott live up to her odds and claim the 2019 title?! All will be revealed when Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC1 this autumn.
