Strictly Come Dancing contestant Anastacia will dance with Gorka Marquez tonight as her partner Brendan Cole is still battling a lung infection
Strictly Come Dancing have confirmed that Brendan Cole is “too ill to dance” this weekend as he is still recovering from a lung infection.
Brendan, who is partnered with Anastacia, nearly didn’t make last week’s round of the contest as he checked himself into hospital for treatment.
But at the last minute he managed to perform a rumba with Anastacia that was good enough to keep them in the competition – just. They were in the dance-off against Naga Munchetty and Pasha Kovalev, who were voted out after Naga lost timing in their Charleston.
Strictly says Brendan “has been advised to rest and will not be dancing this weekend as per doctor’s orders.
The Sun has quoted a source close to Brendan as saying he is “gutted not to be able to dance this weekend”.
On Friday, Brendan took to social media to reassure his fans after reports surfaced that he had died.
The dancer tweeted a screenshot of a news website with a story headlined: “Strictly dancer Brendan Cole has died” and wrote: “Ps … report yesterday of me having died … very much untrue! lol.”
Week Five of Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC1 tonight at 6.36pm.
