Brooke Kinsella wept in court on Tuesday as details were revealed about the night her brother Ben was fatally stabbed.

The ex-EastEnders actress fought back tears as she watched CCTV footage of 16-year-old Ben staggering across a road after being stabbed 11 times upon leaving a bar in Islington, North London, in June of last year.

The Old Bailey jury heard that shortly before the incident, a fight had broken out in Shillibeers bar and one of the accused, Jade Braithwaite, 20, shouted: “I’ll stab people up.”

Brooke, who played Kelly Taylor in the BBC1 soap, was supported in court by her younger sister Jade.

They heard that their innocent brother had not been involved in the bar fight.

Nicholas Hilliard QC, prosecuting, told the court: “On the morning of Sunday 29 June, 2008, a 16-year-old boy called Ben Kinsella was stabbed to death.

“No one suggests Ben Kinsella was anything other than totally blameless.”

The court heard that Braithwaite left Shillibeers but returned in a car with co-accused Michael Alleyne, 18, and Juress Kika, 19, and chased Ben and his pals as they walked home from the bar.

Braithwaite, Alleyne and Kika, all from North London, deny murder.
