No plans currently for Sharon's return
We reported earlier that Cagney and Lacey legend Sharon Gless was going to return to Casualty for a third time as pioneering neurosurgeon Zsa Zsa Harper-Jenkinson, but alas there’s currently no plans for her to return.
The confusion arose after Jason Durr, who plays Casualty nurse David Hide, posted a tweet of himself with Sharon saying she was joining us later this year – but he’s just clarified that he’d mistakenly posted an old tweet!
After the old tweet went out, Jason made the situation clear: “Oooops my bad. Made a mistake. Picked up an old tweet about Sharon Gless. Sadly she’s not returning. But we have the old eps to cherish. Enjoy.”
Sharon told us last year how much she enjoyed teaming up with Jason. “I loved working with Jason, who plays nurse David Hide. A lot of my scenes are with him because he’s the one who calls Zsa Zsa and drives her around.”
We’re hoping that Casualty might get Sharon back for a third time and sorry for the confusion!
Meanwhile, Casualty fans were furious on Saturday when it was cancelled at the last minute due to Wimbledon.
Fans rushed to social media to vent their fury when the episode was moved with very short notice as the tennis went late into the evening.
The episode fans missed will now be shown this Saturday, with subsequent episodes being pushed back a week for now. We expect at some point there will be a Casualty double-bill to make up for missing a week.
The BBC1 hit will be back on Saturday.
