Californication star Duchovny goes into sex rehab

X Files and Californication star David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation centre to be treated for sex addiction.

In a statement, the 48-year-old actor said that he did so voluntarily, adding: “I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.”

Duchovny plays a sex-obsessed character on the Five series Californication, which earned Emmy nominations for casting and cinematography.

The actor appeared in the film The X Files: I Want To Believe earlier this summer, reprising the role of Agent Mulder alongside Gillian Anderson, who was back as Agent Scully.

Duchovny – who has also appeared in films such as Things We Lost In The Fire, Kalifornia, Zoolander and Evolution – has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997. The couple have two children.
