And they like Daniel Laurie, who plays Reggie, doing a spot of photobombing!

Call the Midwife viewers have had their day brightened up by a charming on-set picture of Shelagh Turner (played by Laura Main) with Dr Turner (Stephen McGann) and their daughter Angela.

Celebrating the start of filming series eight of the BBC1 hit, Call the Midwife’s official Twitter feed posted: “Awww! The Turners are back on set!”

“This brightens up my day,” wrote one viewer, while another said: “I adore that family!”

Another loved the “cute” snap, while pondering where their son Timothy was. (There was also no sign of baby Teddy!).

Eagle eyed fans also spotted Daniel Laurie, who plays Reggie, photobombing the picture. “Great photo, nice bit of photobombing too,” commented one.

Meanwhile, Helen George, who plays Trixie, is also about to return filming, announcing on instagram recently that she was enjoying her “last few days off before getting back to Trixie.”

The BBC drama’s seventh run ended in March with a tear-jerking instalment that saw the midwives of Nonnatus House still reeling from the death of Barbara. Laura Main spoke to us about Barbara’s dramatic death, saying: “It is really sad to lose someone so young and so loved, so it’s really hard. They have to find a balance between grieving and carrying on with work…”

Call the Midwife will return at Christmas with a special before for a full series in the new year.
