The former ITV news anchor Carol Barnes remains in a critical condition in intensive care after her massive stroke on Sunday. The Mirror reports that doctors says the 63-year-old is unlikely to recover. Her former boss and editor in chief at ITN, Stuart Purvis, said: “It’s really very, very sad that she’s so ill. It’s difficult to exaggerate what a popular person she was at ITN. She was loved by everyone she worked with and people were always pleased by her success. “Newscasters and presenters are sometimes chosen for their looks, but here was someone who had experience, energy and looks.” Carol is in the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. She hasn’t regained consciousness since she collapsed at home.
