Casualty fans praise ‘brilliant performances’ as Jacob Masters says final goodbyes

Omo Masters dies with her son by her side in emotional scenes

Casualty fans have heaped praise on Saturday night’s emotional episode that saw Jacob Masters and his mum Omo say their last goodbyes.

Following months of turmoil, the nurse’s mum tragically succumbs to the final stages of pancreatic cancer.

Jacob (Charles Venn) wanted Omo (Ellen Thomas) to undergo more tests, but she tells her son she wants to die at home.

In heartbreaking scenes, Omo dies in bed in Jacob’s arms. She was holding onto a precious picture of the seaside he had drawn as a little boy.

After watching the emotional episode, one impressed viewer wrote, “Just watched Casualty and one of the best acted and written scenes I’ve seen with Jacob and Omo as he watches her slip away from a personal point of view stirred up emotions which shows how real it came across.

“Brilliant performance from them both.”

Another tweeted, “Big praise to @ChuckyVenn for his portrayal of Jacob in Casualty last night. Thought he played those scenes exceptionally well. Personal opinion, but I think the acting in Casualty is criminally underrated.”

While a third said the chemistry between Jacob and Omo has been “fantastic” throughout the storyline.

A fourth wrote, “The scenes between @chucky Venn and @ellenthomasuk and tonight are so emotional. Incredible acting from you both.”

Last week Omo revealed Jacob’s father didn’t die when he was a child, and said he could find his dad’s details in the back of her Bible. However, she didn’t want her son to look until after she was dead.

Moments after she died, a tearful Jacob took the piece of paper from the back of Bible and defiantly burned it in a candle flame before even looking at it.

Does this mean he’ll never meet his father?
