One of the show's actors revealed all...

Keeping a quiet set is surely a key part of filming any big soap.

And as one of the most popular shows on TV, Casualty is one series that would need total quiet and focus when filming begins.

But it seems the soap’s bosses have a very novel way of maintaining silence as the cameras start rolling.

George Rainsford, who plays the much-loved Ethan Hardy in Casualty, revealed that the show actually brings in a Hawk to set, to scare away any noisy seagulls, as they film in Cardiff.

Writing on his Twitter, he said: “Do you know how we keep our noisy Cardiff seagulls away for filming outside Holby ED? We call in the muscle that’s how!

“In the form of the very handsome Titan the Harris hawk! #Casualty”

He also shared a photo of the mighty bird alongside the post – who could be seen posing in front of some very recognisable sets from the show.

Casualty viewers were amazed by the revelation, with many calling it a ‘great’ idea. One fan said on social media, “Blimey, for a start I thought you filmed in Bristol and secondly what an awesome way to keep those gulls away!”

While another also wrote, ‘Very clever’, and a third said, ‘Good idea 😨😀’.

Reportedly, however, bringing in a hawk to demand quiet on set is a tried and tested trick when filming TV. According to The Mirror, Wimbledon also reportedly hires a Hawk called Hamish during their tennis championships, to ward off any seagulls. It’s thought that he’s been doing the job since 2007.

Since 2011, Casualty has been filmed at Roath Lock studios, situated just off the water in Cardiff Bay. So we’re not surprised that the set is often hounded by seagulls!
