Gogglebox is moving to a primetime slot on Channel 4 when it returns to screens for its third series.
The programme which shows people watching TV in their homes has been recommissioned, and has proved such a hit with viewers that it is going to move to Friday evenings at 9pm.
Returning for the new series will be fan favourites Leon and June, Steph and Dom, Christopher and Stephen, and Sandy and Sandra to give their critiques of the week’s viewing.
There will also be two new sets of viewers for series three – students, best friends and comic book fans Joe and Josh, and Birmingham’s Grandma Ann with her daughter Verona and Nate, the first of her 49 grandchildren.
Gogglebox sees viewers watching everything from the news to reality TV and period drama.
Channel 4’s head of specialist factual TV David Glover said: “We make each episode from scratch every week, never knowing what we are going to get.
“I love the fact that it’s so funny, and I love that the show feels warm, but maybe most of all I love the fact it feels like a little bit of truth. Our viewers can say whatever they want, cutting through PR, cutting through the b******t. They are even allowed to slag off my other shows – which they invariably do.”
Gogglebox will be back on Channel 4 for 12 episodes from March 7.
