Cheryl Cole made sure all eyes were on her as she swept along the red carpet at the Foxcatcher premiere in Cannes.

The X Factor judge – who attended the film festival in her role as ambassador for the cosmetics brand L’Oreal – wore a black strapless couture gown with glittering silver detail by Monique Lhuillier, with a short skirt at the front, and a long layered train that floated along behind her.

Cheryl, 30, stole the show as her frock – teamed with smoky eyes, intricate drop earrings, strappy black shoes and a Bardot-inspired up do – proved perfect for a breezy spring evening on the red carpet.

Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain ended up clutching at her floaty-blue Grecian style gown in the wind, to prevent it blowing up and revealing too much.

Eva Longoria wore a figure-hugging nude dress with a high neck and a slash from shoulder to waist.

Foxcatcher is a drama based on Olympic wrestling gold medalist Mark Schultz’s autobiography and stars Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. It is screening in competition for the prestigious Palme d’Or prize at the festival.
