Cheryl Cole is set to return to US screens with a guest role in Glee, according to the Mirror.

The paper reports that the former X Factor judge – who made an abrupt departure from the US version of the show in May – will appear as herself in the high school hit.

And she is also being tipped to make a guest appearance in the US sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

An insider revealed that since Cheryl was dropped from the US X Factor panel and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger, her manager Will.I.Am has been in weekly talks with the major TV networks to get her Stateside career back on track.

“Cheryl’s US dream is far from over,” the source said. “Her people are in talks with executives involved with Glee and How I Met Your Mother with a view to featuring Cheryl in an episode,”

“Will reckons people in the States are really starting to sit up and take notice of her. Since the US X Factor setback, Cheryl’s team is more determined than ever to get things moving for her.

“Will is talking films, music and now the small screen, too.”

Earlier this week it was revealed that Cheryl is set to make her big screen debut in the Hollywood movie What To Expect When You’re Expecting, which stars Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz.

The 28-year-old will play a talent show judge in that film, which follows the fortunes of four couples experiencing first time parenthood.
