Strictly Come Dancing bosses say Tina O’Brien will not be participating in this week’s show due to contracting chickenpox.

The news was issued on the BBC1 dance show’s official website: “Unfortunately due to a diagnosis of Chicken Pox, Tina O’Brien cannot participate this week.

“In accordance with our rules and contingency plans, Tina will given a bye through to next week’s show. If she is unable to dance next week she will have to leave the competition”.

In response to the news, Tina has issued a statement saying: “I am devastated. I was so looking forward to this week’s show. Jared and I have spent so much time and effort on a really fantastic routine and I just couldn’t wait to perform it on Saturday.

“Hopefully I will bounce back quickly and be on top dancing form soon, ready to come back straight into the next routine. I will be watching them all this weekend”.

Despite Tina’s exit from this week’s show, the remaining couples will dance as usual for the judge’s scores and the public vote and one couple will be eliminated in the Sunday night Results Show.
