Christine Bleakley, Adrian Chiles and Jonathan Ross could reportedly be axed from ITV after their contracts expire, after their various shows for the channel proved less than popular.
The trio all left the BBC to join ITV – with Christine and Adrian being poached from the BBC’s One Show in 2010 to host new breakfast show Daybreak, and Jonathan taking his chat show to the rival channel the following year.
However Daybreak has struggled to win viewers – with ratings dropping down to 350,000 at one point – leading to Christine and Adrian’s departure from the show in late 2011, to be replaced by Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones.
And now the Daily Star has reported that their future at ITV could be looking bleak once their contracts expire next year.
“It is fair to say that we paid top dollar for Jonathan, Christine and Adrian and to be frank they haven’t delivered the ratings we had hoped and expected,” an insider told the paper.
“Any new deal they might be offered would be on greatly reduced terms.”
Jonathan Ross, meanwhile, is reportedly “resigned to his fate”, after his chat show, screened in a late Saturday evening slot on ITV, averaged around 3m viewers.
The insider added that ITV had “other ideas” for Jonathan, whose two-year deal expires later this year.
Since leaving Daybreak Adrian Chiles has fronted ITV’s football coverage as well as the short-lived That Sunday Night Show in 2012.
Christine, meanwhile, has already faced speculation about her ITV future after reports that she was being ‘picky’ about which projects she chose.
Apart from co-hosting the past two series of Dancing On Ice alongside Philip Schofield, the Irish presenter has fronted only a handful of specials, including Text Santa and That Dog Can Dance.
