TV presenter Christine Bleakley has put herself forward to replace Fern Britton on This Morning, according to the papers.
Reports suggest that Bleakley, best known as the co-host of BBC1’s The One Show, is eager to join Phillip Schofield on the show.
“Christine’s people have told bosses that she would be interested — she is really keen,” an industry insider told the paper. “She would actually be good as the One Show viewers like her.”
The 29-year-old also won new fans when she competed on last year’s Strictly Come Dancing, finishing in fifth place.
However she faces some stiff competition for the role. “Everyone wants this job — it’s THE job to get,” a source said.
Meanwhile, the Mail On Sunday reports that talk show host Melanie Sykes is being lined up to replace Fern, who announced last month she would be quitting the show in July after 10 years.
Melanie, best known for co-hosting Today With Des And Mel, is being tipped to take over in September when the show returns from its summer break.
Others who have been mentioned in connection with the job are Ruth Langsford, who co-hosts the show on Fridays with her fiance Eamonn Holmes.
