Former Apprentice candidate Claire Young has accused Ben Clarke of having ‘small man syndrome’ – and she’s been less than favourable about many of this year’s other hopefuls.

Claire, who came runner-up to Lee McQueen in series four of the BBC1 reality show last year, thinks that the trainee stockbroker is the most interesting of the current crop of contestants – but says he doesn’t have a hope of becoming Sir Alan Sugar’s apprentice.

Talking to whatsontv.co.uk to promote the launch of the Apprentice Series 1-4 DVD, she said: “I don’t think Ben’s going to win The Apprentice but whether you love him or loathe him, everyone’s talking about Ben.

“I think he’s got serious short man syndrome but he’s a character – he’s like a Jack Russell, he gets his teeth in and doesn’t let go.”

Claire also reckons that this year’s female contestants are giving the men a run for their money.

She said: “Debra’s really capable, I think Kate will get stronger and Yasmina was a really good project manager.”

She went on to describe Phillip Taylor as a ‘petulant child’ and she said that Noorul Choudhury ‘couldn’t find his way out of a paper bag.’
