Colin Farrell: ‘I’ll do my best for Heath’

Actor Colin Farrell has confirmed that he will be stepping into Heath Ledger’s shoes.

The 31-year-old actor admitted that he would be completing the late actor’s role in the last film he was shooting before his death in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, alongside Johnny Depp and Jude Law.

“It’s a great honour to have, though it’s an honour I wish I didn’t have,” he said on the red carpet as he attended the Oscars.

“I don’t know how it will work. I’ll do my best and help to get Heath’s last piece of work out there. That’s what it is all about – just finishing what Heath started and trying to do the best as possible for him.”

Colin, who was presenting an award, had a beautiful date on his arm at the 80th Academy Awards – his mother Rita.

His mum showed her pride at being by her son’s side, saying: “It’s amazing. I might have had a little to do with his success, but I’m very proud of him. I’m very happy to be here.”

Irish Colin quipped back: “She means to say that the success is all hers – it just comes through me.”
