There's drama heading for Coronation Street as Peter's boat is dramatically set on fire - and the person to blame is a shocker!
It was confirmed last year that Coronation Street would be hit by tragedy when Peter Barlow’s boat was set on fire, trapping son Simon inside.
The soap also released a brand new trailer yesterday, showing Peter frantically trying to help his son as Simon fights for his life inside.
But it has now been revealed who is responsible for the fire – it’s none other than lovely Roy Cropper!
In a huge twist, the usually quiet Roy will turn fire starter when he ends up accidentally setting the boat alight – but it seems he won’t be the one to take the blame after Carla does her best to cover up what her friend did.
A source reportedly told The Sun: “This chain of events begin with Roy struggling to cope with the death of his mother.
“The stress makes him start sleepwalking and one night be knocks over a paraffin lamp, which starts the blaze. He is clueless as to what he has done, but Carla Connor, who sees it all on CCTV footage at Underworld, finds out and tries to cover his tracks by erasing the tapes.”
The newspaper went on to claim that Carla burns the jacket that her best friend was wearing on the night of the fire, and even goes as far as letting someone else take the blame for the inferno.
But that’s not all… while Roy might be oblivious to the drama he has caused at first, he is set to find out what he’s done and, being the good citizen he is, hands himself in to the police
With Simon passed out from smoke inhalation in the new Coronation Street trailer, it seems Roy could have more than arson on his conscience if the teenager doesn’t pull through.
Could the boat that was meant to bring Simon and Peter closer together end up tearing them apart for good?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
