Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod is debating about whether to kill off this fan favourite - but which cobbles character is facing the chop?
Coronation Street’s new boss, Iain MacLeod has revealed that he is still undecided about whether Sinead Tinker will survive her cancer ordeal.
Fans of the soap will know that Sinead is currently fighting for her life, and the life of her unborn baby, as she undergoes a gruelling battle against cervical cancer.
Pregnant Sinead found out she had cancer when she got pregnant with her first child, and kept the truth a secret from now husband, Daniel Osbourne.
The pair have since faced the battle together, and despite Sinead recently skipping her chemotherapy sessions in favour of a more natural approach to treatment, she is thankfully now having the care she needs to hopefully get better.
But while Corrie fans across the nation are willing the mum-to-be to beat her cancer and live happily-ever-after with Daniel and their baby, Iain MacLeod has revealed that he still doesn’t know how her story will end.The Coronation Street boss revealed at a recent press event: “It’s a really long-running story and we genuinely haven’t decided what we are doing with the ending.
“Certainly, the longer it goes on, the harder it becomes to kill Sinead because Katie (McGlynn, who plays Sinead) and Rob (Mallard, who plays Daniel) have been so good in it – they’re almost acting their way off the butcher’s block.
“I have an open mind about it. There’s a beautiful story to tell with an optimistic ending but equally, a very truthful story to tell where it doesn’t work out.”
Iain went on to say that the character’s fate could be decided in the not too distant future…
“As to which is the right outcome, I’ll get more of a sense at the next writer’s conference. If anyone were acting their way onto long-term tenure on the show, it would be Katie and Rob.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
