She's been a much-loved character on the show for years now - but it looks like this loveable barmaid is hiding a very dark secret...
Coronation Street’s Gemma Winter (played by Dolly-Rose Campbell) has become a firm favourite on the soap since she arrived on the cobbles in 2014.
But despite winning fans thanks to her down-to-earth attitude and hilarious transition from Kylie’s rough-and-ready friend to much-loved local barmaid at the Rovers, we’re still in the dark when it comes to Gemma’s back story.
That all looks set to change, with the arrival of her estranged twin brother Paul, who has come to blow the lid on Gemma’s harmonious existence on the Street.
According to The Sun, Gemma’s twin Paul has a bone to pick with the barmaid – and it’s a shocker.
Paul is reportedly angry with his sibling as he was forced to take the blame for KILLING a rich old woman – when it was actually Gemma that did the dirty work.
And as if that wasn’t enough of a bombshell, Paul goes on to say that he thinks history could repeat itself.
A source told The Sun: “Paul thinks Gemma’s up to her old tricks, and Rita could be in danger.
“Gemma tries her best to keep Paul away from Rita, but things could get difficult as he starts to get settled.”
Could Rita be in danger, as things start to get sinister on the Street?
It looks like the introduction of Paul’s character is going to be pretty explosive. As well as wreaking havoc on Gemma’s life, Paul is also set for a passionate fling with one of the Street’s least likely candidates – vicar Billy Mayhew (played by Daniel Brocklebank).
It’s been reported that the pair will get close after a chance meeting in the Rovers Return. But, given Paul’s aggressive nature and vengeful agenda, we can’t see things ending well for the pair…
Coronation Street continues on Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
