Angela Griffin is set to comeback as Fiona!
Coronation Street legend Angela Griffin is to make a hugely surprising return to the cobbles after more than two decades away, it’s been reported.
The 42-year-old star made a huge impact on Corrie when she joined the soap in 1992, going on to make nearly 500 appearances as hairdresser Fiona Middleton before making her last appearance in 1998.
Fiona famously had a doomed affair with Steve McDonald and her rumoured return is said to be linked to her ex.
According to The Sun, Fiona will comeback in a dramatic love child plot which will see her claim that Steve is the father of her daughter Emma Brooker (played by Alexandra Mardell) who’s now 18.
A source told the paper: “Angela’s return is short and sweet but it has huge implications for Steve.
“She’s back on screens and will find out that the dates that he was with Fiona tally up to when Emma’s born.”
So, what will Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) say if Steve turns out to be Emma’s dad?!
Fiona’s stint on Coronation Street certainly wasn’t boring first time around! Not only did Fiona have a fling with Steve she also had one with his dad, Jim!!
The affair with Jim led to her getting ditched at the altar by copper Alan, who she had a son with, Morgan.
Meanwhile, it was also revealed that Steve had been misbehaving with Fiona’s best mate Maxine Peacock – who was famously bumped off by serial killer Richard Hillman.
Following her success on Corrie, Angela has gone on to enjoy a huge number of roles including parts in Cutting It, Waterloo Road and Brief Encounters.
Angela’s return has yet to be officially confirmed by Coronation Street, which continues tonight on ITV at 7.30pm.
Remember tonight’s episode is an hour-long.
