Sinead and Daniel finally get hitched, but then they get heartbreaking news...
Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn has spoken about Sinead Tinker’s devastation next week when she’s told her cancer has returned and she has only months to live.
Sinead will be seen planning a surprise wedding for her and Daniel at the Bistro. Daniel is gobsmacked when he arrives and sees that all his friends have gathered to at last watch him marry the woman he loves.
However, the action in Coronation Street next week takes a hideous tragic twist when Beth finds a lump on Sinead’s neck while helping her do her hair.
“It’s like she’s been shot – everything stops,” says Katie. “It’s the worst feeling in the world because she knows immediately that her cancer’s back.”
When Sinead breaks the news to Daniel, he is of course devastated. Daniel had been hoping against hope that the worst was finally over. He wants to take Sinead straight to hospital, but she says they should try to enjoy the rest of their wedding day.
Sinead has another scan and is then asked to return to hospital. And then their world comes crashing down. The doctor breaks the awful news to them that not only has the cancer returned but that Sinead has just a few short months to live.
“They’re both utterly devastated,” says Katie. “They have to tell the family but Sinead doesn’t want sympathy, she just wants to go home and be with Daniel and baby Bertie.”
So, how will they spend their last months together? And how will Daniel cope when it’s just him and little Bertie?
Coronation Street continues on ITV.
