(500) Days of Summer sounds like it should be a film about global warming doesn’t it? But, actually it’s a romance. Summer is the girl who shakes up the world of greeting card writer Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – for 500 days.
In the same way in which we all look back on failed relationships, this film dips in and out of the highs and lows of Tom and Summer in no particular order.
Many of the anecdotes will be familiar – we’ve all been there at some point. But, the delivery is a very refreshing take on the romantic comedy and the performances are brilliant, especially Zooey Deschanel as the title character.

While we’re on the subject of summer (sort of), I just have to take this opportunity to have a rant about the confusing messages that are banded around in the media regarding summer and the other seasons. It was the Autumn Equinox yesterday (night and day equal length), which according to BBC Breakfast News, was officially the start of autumn.
Sometime around the 23rd March by the looks of it!!
It’s not quite 500 days of summer, but according to this logic, summer is a ridiculously long season none the less.
(500) Days of Summer is showing on Sky Movies Premiere today 24th September at 10pm, and at various times throughout the next week.
