I feel old. This year is the 25th anniversary of The Breakfast Club.
Starring Bratpackers Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall and Ally Sheedy, it’s the story of five very different high school kids who are forced to confront their respective personal issues while spending a Saturday detention together.
In case you’re too young, or too old, to recall, the Brat Pack were young American actors who were always appearing together in coming-of age/teen movies during the 80s. In addition to the above bunch, it also included Demi Moore, Rob Lowe and Andrew McCarthy.
The Breakfast Club is a great movie and a very perceptive portrayal of teenage schoolkids – especially the 80s teenage schoolkid, which is what I was when I first saw it.
I always wanted to be able to dance like Molly Ringwald in this scene for some reason…
The Breakfast Club is showing today 20th September on BBC1 at 11.35pm
