Adventureland is a coming-of-age tale set in an 80s amusement park. That description doesn’t make it sound all that exciting, but I thoroughly enjoyed it because Adventureland sent me on four little adventures:
1. An adventure down memory lane.
The wet feet, the slightly queasy stomach, the bag of tat and packet of crushed crisps for the journey home – who can forget the 1980s amusement park?
2. A Kristen Stewart adventure.
What a journey! How exciting to discover that this actress is so much better than just Bella in Twilight. In Adventureland, she plays Em, a troubled amusement park employee who befriends new recruit college grad James (Jesse Eisenberg). He falls for her, unaware that she is having an affair with a married co-worker.
4. The ‘amusement park or theme park?’ adventure.
A rather geeky game I confess, but this had me strangely entertained for at least five minutes or so.
A theme park – as its name suggests – connects its attractions with an overriding theme, while an amusement park has rides and games with no connecting theme.
So, what about the following – amusement park or theme park?
Universal Studios, Disneyland, Legoland, Alton Towers, The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter, Hershey Park, Dollywood, Camelot Theme Park(bit of a giveaway this one), Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Flamingo Land, Adventureland…
Fun, isn’t it?
