Couch Potato’s Tuesday Trivia: A nugget about The Last of the Mohicans’ nocturnal filming schedule

A tale of epic romantic adventure during the 1757 Anglo-French war in America, The Last of the Mohicans is a movie with many battle scenes.

And during the film’s production, many long nights were spent shooting these scenes with a cast of hundreds.

And to achieve this, according to the imdb, loudspeakers were installed around the battlefield set so that directions could be easily given to the film’s numerous cast and crew.

Apparently one night  after many long hours filming, director Michael Mann was heard to shout over the speakers; “What’s that orange light? Turn out that orange light!”

After a pause another voice came over the speakers stating, “That’s the sun, Michael.”

The Last of the Mohicans is showing tonight – Tuesday 20th March – on 5USA at 9pm
