Countryfile is celebrating its 30th birthday

Countryfile star Anita Rani has recalled her funniest moment on the BBC1 show, which is celebrating its 30th birthday.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star revealed that the incident involved a lot of cows…

“I was down in the milking pit with 25 cows and one of them started peeing. I ran off, but the cameraman ended up drenched,” she said.

Anita, who joined Countryfile in 2015, also shared her favourite memory on the show.

“Earlier this year, I visited a farm in Lancashire that works with refugees. We took a group of children who’d recently arrived from Sudan. It was a beautiful day and they saw snow for the first time.”

Countryfile started on Sunday 24th July 1988 and in this Sunday’s special episode to celebrate the show’s 30th birthday the presenters will trawl through the archives to relive their most memorable moments.

John Craven, who joined in 1989, says his most memorable moment came in 2013 when Prince Charles guest edited the show.

“He told us he was at his happiest in the countryside, which was ‘an essential link with the magic of nature’,” said John.

Countryfile continues this Sunday at 7pm on BBC1 with a special anniversary episode.
