Craig Revel Horwood has said he would love to give the next series of Strictly Come Dancing a royal flavour, by inviting Prince Harry to take part.

The choreographer made his remarks after suggesting that the show – whose landmark tenth series is due to begin later this year – could do with a broader range of contestants.

“I would like royalty up there, I’d like Prince Harry to show us his Cha-cha-cha, or someone like Sharon Osbourne would be fun,” he said.

“Maybe a fashion designer or an architect or a lawyer, someone who is at the top of their game, rather than just someone else from EastEnders or Holby City.”

Craig was recently crowned winner of the BBC2 show Maestro, and has said his experience on the show could make him an even tougher judge when it comes to Strictly.

“I know a lot of celebrities go on these shows and say ‘It’s changed my life’ like on Strictly Come Dancing and I never quite understood it, but now I certainly understand why, it’s something new you can invest in,” he said.

“It might make me tougher on Strictly. What it will do is make me empathise a little bit with them but my opinion is my opinion and nothing is going to change that.”
