Damian Lewis is to star in US network Showtime’s new show Billions.
The Emmy-winning Homeland actor will join Paul Giamatti in the Wall Street drama pilot, which will be directed by Divergent’s Neil Burger, reported Deadline.
Damian – who played Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody in Homeland, also shown on the US network – will portray ambitious hedge fund king Bobby ‘Axe’ Axelrod, while Paul has been cast as ‘whip-smart US attorney’ Chuck Rhodes in the fictional drama, which is set in the world of high finance.
Filming on Billions, written and executive produced by Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin, is expected to start in New York in early 2015.
Damian next stars as Henry VIII in BBC mini-series Wolf Hall, and in Werner Herzog’s film Queen Of The Desert about the life of traveller and writer Gertrude Bell.
Paul, whose recurring role as Harold Levinson on Downton Abbey earned him an Emmy nomination this year, will be seen in Sophie Barthes’ Madame Bovary, the big-screen adaptation of The Little Prince and N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton.
