He was a huge hit on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here last year, so it’s no surprise John Barrowman could have bagged himself a new TV role.
The 52-year-old singer is thought to be in talks to replace Jason Gardiner as a judge on next year’s series of Dancing On Ice – after Jason quit the show earlier this month.
Having proved popular with the public when he came third in the jungle last year, producers are said to be thrilled to potentially have John on board.
“Producers are delighted to have got John,” a TV insider told The Sun. “He’s a good fit for the show as he knows how it works and has done judging roles before.”
John is no stranger to the format of Dancing On Ice, having appeared on the first series of the show back in 2006. He finished in seventh place.
Talking about his decision to leave the judging panel – having been on it since 2006 – Jason said: “After all these years I feel it’s time for me to say goodbye to my judging role and return to things I have been putting on hold and have been on the back burner for a while.
“To all of my DOI fans I really thank you for your support and encouragement over the years, I know we’ve gone through some controversies and I’m glad you got my unique judging style and honestly.”
His statement came amid speculation he’d been ‘axed’ following on-air drama with former contestant Gemma Collins.
Explaining all, he said: “I know there has been a lot of speculation about me and the upcoming series of dancing on ice. I wanted to set the record straight, I’ve been an original judge since 2006.
“I’ve done every series except one, when I was replaced by my good friend and dance sister Louis Spence in 2012.
“The show had been off air for four years and when it was revived I was the only original judge to return. The past two series there have been new additions to the panel including the fantastic Ashley Banjo and the legends Torvill and Dean. I have absolutely loved sharing the panel with them.”
