Ballerina Darcey Bussell is set to make her first appearance as a guest judge on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night.

The dancer will join Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli on the quarter final of the show, as the four remaining couples battle it out for a place in next week’s semi.

And she said she planned to offer “constructive criticism” to the celebrity dancers.

“Being a big fan of Strictly I just felt that it was a great opportunity to be involved with a very exciting and positive show,” Bussell said.

“Having been a dancer all my life, I know what it’s like to perform and what you need to be able to perform.”

Chris Hollins, Ricky Whittle, Ali Bastian and Laila Rouass are the remaining contestants in the competition.

Bastian has replaced Whittle as the bookies’ favourite to win the series, while Footballers Wives star Rouass is the favourite to get the boot on Saturday.

The show will also be split in two for the first time this series, with the main show at 6.50pm and the results at 9.40pm.
