Raymond Blanc has hit out out Delia Smith for ‘betraying’ her fellow chefs. The TV cook’s latest book and series How To Cheat At Cooking includes using shortcuts such as tinned mince and frozen mashed potato, but the Michelin-starred chef feels she is undermining real cooking, according to the Daily Express. Raymond told the newspaper: “Suddenly the great lady who helped us all to connect with our food has published a book which undermines her credibility. “Just at the point where people were beginning to connect with their food and become aware of the joys of seasonal food, she suddenly gives us the opposite message and that’s sad.” The French-born culinary master, owner of celebrated Oxfordshire restaurant Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons, admits people are cooking less these days and Delia is responding to that, but feels she should have stuck to the values of traditional home cooking her brand embodies. He added: “She is betraying those values.”
