Denise Welch and husband Lincoln Townley have become the first couple to be eliminated from ITV’s new dance show Stepping Out.
The newlyweds lost out after their rumba proved unpopular with both viewers and judges – who awarded them just 26 points out of a possible 60.
And the results from this week, combined with their score for last weekend’s disco routine, ultimately spelled the end of their time on the dancefloor.
Afterwards Lincoln described the experience of taking part in the show as “amazing”, adding: “We’ll definitely keep dancing. We’re going to take what we learned out of here and keep doing it.”
Elsewhere it was another good week on the show – in which celebrities learn to dance with their real-life partners – for JLS’s Oritse Williams and girlfriend AJ Azari.
The pair, who topped the judges’ scoreboard last weekend, once again led the way with a salsa which scored them two perfect 10s from judge Mel B.
Westlife’s Brian McFadden and wife Vogue Williams finished just behind them with 47 points followed by Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen and wife Jackie – who improved on the previous week’s street dance performance with a decent American Smooth.
Boxer Carl Froch and girlfriend Rachael Cordingley scored 34 points for their bangra routine, leaving Glynis Barber and Michael Brandon to prop up the scoreboard, picking up just 21 points for their line dance.
The series continues on ITV next Saturday night.
