Dermot: ‘X Factor twins have a good chance’

Dermot O’Leary thinks controversial twins John and Edward Grimes are among the top contenders to win The X Factor – despite being the bookies’ outsiders.

Asked who he thought would be crowned champion this year, the show’s presenter said: “There are about four or five people who have a good chance. Olly’s got a good chance, Stacey’s got a good chance, Lucie’s got a good chance, John and Edward have a good chance.”

Dermot confirmed that he thought the high-haired 17-year-olds would “stay in for a while”.

Ladbrokes have given the Irish duo the biggest odds of 66/1, in comparison with Welsh singer Lucie Jones who, at 11/4, is the bookmakers’ favourite to win the competition.

According to The Mirror, 100,000 people have joined Facebook groups slating the identical twins, who have been accused of cockiness.

Asked who her favourite contestants were, model and Wag Abbey Clancy said she liked Olly Murs and Joseph McElderry.

Last year’s winner Alexandra Burke said: “I’m loving the overs (Over 25s). I think they’re a really strong category. But I want to see the first live show before I say who is outstanding.”

Asked who they were backing, Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill of band JLS said: “Rachel Adedeji is a good friend of ours, and Ricky Loney from Scotland. They are both friends of ours.”

And Simon Cowell’s ex, TV presenter Terri Seymour said: “From what I’ve seen, personally I like Jamie Afro.”
