Diana Vickers has revealed how dealing with criticism has made her a stronger person.

The 18-year-old singer, who came fourth in The X Factor in 2008, doesn’t mind when comments come flying her way, because she’s learnt how to deal with it.

“Having people judge me and say horrible things just makes me more comfortable in my own skin – when people had a go, it gave me a thick skin and made me love myself more,” she told Heat.

As she releases her debut album Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree on May 3, Diana, who was labelled ‘Marmite’ during her time on The X Factor, loves the fact that she can split public opinion with her music.

“I’d rather people loved or really hated me than just thought, ‘Yeah, she’s all right’,” she added.

“Some people passionately despise me, but I love it because there’s feeling behind it. I love that there’s controversy – it makes things exciting. I get a buzz from it.”
