Dixie to return to Casualty – and it will have a HUGE impact on this character

Iain ponders his own future when Dixie comes back later this year...

Casualty star Jane Hazlegrove – who’s also currently playing Gemma’s mum Bernie in Coronation Street – will return as Dixie this autumn for two episodes, it’s been revealed.

Dixie waved goodbye nearly three years ago, when she quit her paramedic job and headed off to Cornwall. Now, Dixie will return as part of the HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medial Service) team.

Dixie will be seen turning up in the nick of time to assist the paramedic team with a young lad who has a life-threatening chest injury.

And it seems Dixie’s return is likely to have a big impact, especially on Iain. Seeing how well Dixie is doing in her new career, Iain starts to contemplate his own future.

Iain Dean is troubled, but what is he planning in Casualty?

Dixie’s return makes Iain think about his own future

We know that Michael Stevenson is taking a break from his role as Iain and it seems that Dixie’s comeback is closely tied up with his exit storyline.

Speaking about her return to Casualty as Dixie, Jane said: “It was really great to see some familiar faces again and of course to hang out with Sir Michael Stevenson… despite the fact that his jokes haven’t got any better!”

Simon Harper, Executive Producer Casualty and Holby City, added: “It’s wonderful to have the brilliant Jane Hazlegrove back in the Casualty family fold. Dixie was and remains a massively popular character with the audience who miss her to this day, and she and Iain are clearly going to have a lot to catch up on after his tumultuous year.”

Jane, whose currently causing chaos as Bernie in Corrie, has also enjoyed roles in The Bill, Silent Witness and Doctors. She first appeared as Dixie in Casualty way back in 2006.

Casualty continues on BBC1 this Saturday at 8.40pm.
