Dizzee Rascal is becoming a TV talent show judge.
The Bonkers rapper, who is making a bid for this week’s No 1 with his World Cup single, is to be on the panel for new Sky1 series Must Be The Music.
Also judging the search for a new music act will be jazz star Jamie Cullum and former Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri.
Auditions begin later this month which are open to performers of any age and any style, whether it be a gospel choir, indie band or soprano.
Mercury Music Prize winner Dizzee said: “I know how hard it is to break into the music industry and am giving all you fellow musicians out there a chance to come and show me, the other judges and the rest of the UK that we really do have some of the best musicians in the world right under our noses, who deserve a break.
“I’m here to give you that break.”
The series is to be screened by Sky1 and Sky1 HD in August and will give support, advice and a £100,000 prize to the winner to help kick-start their career.
Jamie said: “I know that some people may feel that their unique approach to music doesn’t normally have a voice, but they are exactly who we are looking for – genuine talent in whatever form it takes.”
Sharleen added: “Regardless of our differing music genres, ultimately we all have the same goal and that’s to encourage unsigned and undiscovered talent to perform to the best of their abilities and give them the opportunity to succeed in something they are truly passionate about.”
