At last Doctors returns to our screens at lunchtime!
It’s been a long summer for Doctors fans as their favourite soap has taken a break, but the BBC1 hit is back today!
And Coronation Street viewers will soon spot a familiar face in Monday’s episode – Nick Cochrane, who played Steve McDonald’s twin brother Andy McDonald.
Nick turns up as a debt-ridden dad, Dean Telford, who owes money to businessman Erik Forbes.
Poor Dean is forced to use his pizza business to deal drugs as he tries to pay back Erik, who runs a protection racket.
Nick first appeared in Coronation Street as Andy way back in 1989, appearing in over 6oo episodes.
The last time he was seen in Corrie was 10 years ago, but the character could one day return. Indeed, Beverley Callard, who plays his screen mum Liz McDonald, told The Sun earlier this year she’d like to see Nick back as Andy.
“I hope they bring him back at some point. I know [Nicholas] is busy and he’s doing lots of theatre but I think he would love to come back.
“We’d love him back. I want all the McDonalds back. Honestly there is nothing I would love more than that.
“It would be nice and also because you’ve got those four really different personalities. Andy’s a bit more like Jim, and Steve and Liz are very similar.”
Nick is only appearing in one episode of Doctors. Meanwhile, Doctors is certainly coming back with a bang…
In Wednesday’s episode, Becky Clarke (played by Ali Bastian) faces a life or death situation when she is taken hostage by an escaped prisoner looking for revenge. Will she survive?
Doctors returns to BBC1 after its summer break on Monday 2nd September at 1.45pm.
