Get ready to adventure with Dora the Explorer, her trusty talking Backpack and monkey pal Boots next summer in the first ever live-action version of Nickelodeon’s long-running cartoon.
Filming is now underway on the film version on Australia’s Gold Coast, Queensland with actress Isabela Moner announced to be playing the intrepid jungle explorer. She has previously had roles in the films Transformers: The Last Knight and action-crime sequel Sicario: Day Of The Soldano.
This film version sees a teenage Dora off to high school. Nickelodeon’s original Dora the Explorer series featured the first-ever Latina animated lead character and ran for eight seasons between 2000 to 2014. It has been shown in over 150 countries and translated into 30 languages. Celebrity fans of Dora include Salma Hayek, Rosie Perez, singer Shakira and Kourtney Kardashian, who has 66 million followers and previously posted a childhood throwback photo on Instagram telling her followers: “In case you didn’t know, I was the original Dora the Explorer!”
