Not to be confused with John Boorman’s 1967 noir masterpiece, Point Blank is a tautly plotted, fast-moving French thriller in which a trainee nurse, Gilles Lellouche’s Samuel, must smuggle a patient out of hospital in order to save his heavily pregnant kidnapped wife. Freeing the patient, a criminal (Roschdy Zem) with deadly friends and enemies, turns out to be the first step down a lethally slippery slope for Samuel, who ends up reluctantly joining forces with the crook in a race against time to bring down a bunch of corrupt cops and rescue his imperilled wife.

Another gripping film about an ordinary guy forced to take extraordinary measures to save a loved one from French writer-director Fred Cavayé, who proved the success of the formula with Anything for Her, remade in Hollywood as The Next Three Days.

Released on DVD & Blu-ray on 3rd October by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
