As expected, EastEnders was just as dramatic as ever over the festive period after villain Ray Kelly was shot dead during his New Year’s Day wedding to Mel Owen.
In the shock scenes, Mel’s son Hunter murdered his step-father in order to save his mum from being strangled by the gangster.
But it looks like Albert Square is set for even more exits in the coming months as it’s been revealed that Charlie Winter, who plays Hunter, is being written out of the soap after just one-year.
An EastEnders spokesperson told Digital Spy, “We can confirm Charlie Winter is leaving and wish him all the best for the future.”
Although BBC bosses are seemingly staying tight-lipped on how the teenager will be leaving Walford, there’s one thing we know for sure – it’s going to be dramatic!
An insider added to the publication, “Hunter will be on our screens for a while yet and there is still a lot more drama to come as he and his mum are faced with the fallout of his actions.”
This comes after Friday evening’s episode saw Hunter keep the gun he used to murder Ray – despite claiming to be regretful over the incident.
So will Hunter strike again, or will the law catch up with him? Viewers will have to wait and see to find out!
Charlie joined the cast last year and playing Hunter is his first professional acting role on television.
But the budding young star has also recently released his first rap video under the name Chaz entitled ‘Cheeky Chappy Flow’.
Meanwhile, as Charlie gets ready to leave the soap, his onscreen mum Tamzin has now revealed who she’d like to return to the Square this year.
She said, “Lucy Benjamin as Lisa, always! Mainly because that’s Mel’s history really. Mel’s quite a loner. She doesn’t have any great female friends and I think Lisa and Mel were tight.
“I used to love the fact they used to get drunk together, so she’d be right up there with who I could bring back – and Martin Kemp if Steve Owen wasn’t dead!”
Never say never!
